11 acres of spice paradise nestled amidst the Nilgiris

I checked into my room at Kurumba Village Resort early in the morning and the first thing I did was to fling my bag in a corner and walk towards the balcony. The view from the balcony was magnificent! At a distance, fluffy clouds floated gently near a mountain, concealing the peak. It appeared like a magical act was going to unravel soon. Close to the balcony, lush green trees swayed in a carefree fashion, dancing with the misty morning wind and fresh dew drops trickled down the tree leaves,landing on the wooden edge of the balcony railing. The slight nip in the air made the setting even more perfect!

I prepared coffee and settled in the cosy chair. As I sipped my coffee, I noticed the infinity swimming pool and how alluring it appeared.

As I admired the untouched beauty of nature around me, the sky started to brighten. Bright sunlight pierced through the dense clouds, unravelling the view of the mountain peak. It was covered by a lush green blanket and looked spectacular! I sat there, nonchalant, mesmerized by this brilliant view. My day at Kurumba Village Resort had started on a high note.

Kurumba Village Resort is a hidden gem in South India, not known to many. Located 13 kms from Coonoor Railway Station, this resort is nestled amidst mountains and a picturesque landscape.Situated in a valley between two mountains, Kurumba Village Resort is nothing less than a dream destination for someone who wants to spend a perfect vacation, away from civilization. The Nilgiri Mountains offer a brilliant canvas for the clouds and the lush green trees to paint an unforgettable picture!

My favourite part of the property was the infinity swimming pool. The blue patch of water looked stunning amidst green pastures and beautiful mountains. In the afternoon, I decided to take a swim in the pool and what an amazing experience it was! The view from the swimming pool was unparalleled. I had never taken a dip in a swimming pool so grand! After swimming for a while, I spent some time observing the stunning landscape that stretched endlessly in front of me. The experience was so blissful that even an hour seemed less.

Gradually, the aroma of freshly-cooked breakfast filled the air and I was lured to the delicacies that were prepared for us by the humble staff. The spread was wide and I couldn’t decide where to start. I opted for some steaming idlis along with spicy sambharand a cheese masala omelette. Even a regular breakfast like this was very delicious! The experience was further enhanced because of the spectacular view from the restaurant.

After breakfast, I returned to my room to relax and recover from the previous night’s bus journey.

After a brief rest, I was prepared to try out some adventure activities in Kurumba Village Resort. These adventure activities provide a great leisure experience for families and friends alike. One can try spider climbing, zip lining, ladder climbing, swinging bridge and monkey crawl. The adventure activities are considerably easy, and also a great way to spend some quality time together and test your fitness levels.

In the evening, I was invited for a blissful experience of cave dining. The setup was really impressive and the fact that folks at Kurumba Village Resort were able to carve out a dinner arrangement from an ancient cave left me awestruck. The cave must have existed for a long time and Kurumba Village Resort conjured an experience out of it! I would personally rate the cave dining experience as one of the most blissful experiences I’ve had in a long time. The lit up candles made the ambience even more romantic and the night was memorable. A personal chef and personnel waited on me, customizing the food according to my preferences. The scrumptious crab and chicken were quite fulfilling and my taste buds couldn’t have been more pleased. I returned to my room, content and looking forward to the bird watching session the next morning.

The morning bird watching session turned out to be an exhilarating experience, indeed. The Nilgiri Mountains are indeed a spectacular backdrop to witness a wide range of birds. My personal favourite was the Malabar whistling thrush, which sings beautifully! It’s almost impossible to believe that it is just a bird chirping. The bird watching session, filled with the symphony of alluring melodies, left me mesmerized and in awe of nature’s magic!

My stay at Kurumba Village Resort turned out to be a memorable one. The birds, mountains, clouds, infinity pool and nature in its purest form remained with me long after the holiday was over. The weekend spent at Kurumba Village Resort was absolutely splendid!

Kurumba Village Resort in Coonoor is a brilliant property for a relaxed and fulfilling vacation. No matter how long you stay here, you wouldn’t be willing to leave this spectacular property. Some of my personal favourite highlights fromthe stay were:

1. Infinity swimming pool: I always prefer to stay in a property which has a spectacular swimming pool. At Kurumba Village Resort, the pool was more than perfect for me!
2. Location: The resort is located at a convenient distance from Coonoor city centre, which tends to get crowded during the peak season. Hence, your stay at Kurumba Village Resort will be unperturbed by the ramifications of excessive tourism.
3. Activities: I was impressed by the activities at the resort. You can experience a spice plantation trek, bird watching and other adventure activities.
4. Food and hospitality: The buffet spread for all meals was impressive. The view from the restaurant added even more essence to the scrumptious delicacies, and the warm hospitality of the staff was a delight!
5. Naturalists: The naturalists at Kurumba Village Resort are very passionate about their field of study, and you will be able to acquire a lot of knowledge from them regarding many intriguing facts about nature. A bird watching session with a naturalist will be time well-spent!

 All in all, it was a stunning getaway, surrounded by the peace and tranquility of nature.
