There’s a chill in the air and that can only mean one thing – winter is coming. The steady approach of the winter months bring with it the time of festivity – not only festivals like Diwali and Christmas but also The Rann Utsav and The Pushkar Mela.
The Pushkar Mela held in the tiny town of Pushkar from 15th November to 23rd November celebrates the colors, music and culture of Rajasthan and provides travelers an opportunity to appreciate the beautiful golden sand dunes.
The Rann Utsav is a carnival of music, dance and a celebration of the natural beauty of the Rann of Kutch. The scenery is especially beautiful under the full moon where the shimmering landscape leaves us awestruck. The festivities begin from 1st November and go on till 20th February.
This week we’ve curated a list of properties to stay a list of places that will allow you to enjoy these festivals to the fullest.
Spread across 15 acres, this hideaway is a haven amidst nature, you also get to stay closer to the celebrations at the Pushkar Fair Ground. The interiors of the resort also reflect the flavours of local Rajasthani culture. In spite of having a secluded vibe, Pushkar Resorts is still close enough to the hustle-bustle of Pushkar town as well as Ajmer city. What stands out and makes the property radically different from the usual lakeside properties in the city is the lush green landscape and fruit orchards surrounding it.
Set amidst the orchards of Amla and rose fields these 15 royal tents cover an area of 590 sq feet each. The Rajasthani essence is kept intact by the pieces of pottery decorating the property. The bedroom area is done up with a large queen-size bed with marble lamps. The circular tent set in the middle of the orchard acts as the dining tent and provides a panoramic views of the campsite. You can start the day with a spot of yoga and then head on to the festival and return in the evening for a spectacular dinner by a bonfire.
The Rann Utsav – Tent City is a specially built temporary city that captures the ethnic beauty of rural Kutch while providing a memorable experience. It is the largest tent accommodation in India – sprawling across an area of 5,00,000 sq. mt., it is the perfect blend of rustic charm with modern luxury. There are additional tents set up for indoor sports and recreation. The handicraft bazaar provides local artisans a fantastic platform to showcase their work, while the activity area is used for a range of performances and entertaining shows.
Located close to the dormant volcano Dhinodar, this campsite is surrounded by the Arabian Sea and salt-encrusted desert. A stay here proves to be an insightful experience into the traditions, tribal culture, art and crafts that haven’t changed over the centuries.
So where are you celebrating the festive season?
